Daniel Thomas Cassidy, age 57, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 8 at his home, with his family by his side. A devoted husband and father, Dan is survived by his wife, Julie; his daughters Briana and Kendall; his sons Ryan and Tim; and his four grandchildren, Aubree, Raelyn, Ryan and Thomas.
Dan adored his family. He was the magnetic presence at the center of the Cassidy clan, drawing patient eye rolls from Julie in one moment, too-tight bear hugs and hand shakes from his kids the next—and always jubilant cries of “Poppy, Poppy!” from Raelyn as she burst through the door. A beloved uncle, Dan was most in his element when his house was filled with the laughter and stampede of his many nieces and nephews.
He had the fortune of having a brother, Tim, that was also a best friend—never happier than when he was with his “Irish twin.” They grew up competing over everything, but ultimately developed a deep bond over shared interests like fishing, deer hunting, ice hockey and, of course, their beautiful families.
Dan was more adventurous than he would admit, always willing to break outside his comfort zone. He discovered golf in his forties (and got better than many who’d started playing in their twenties). He took his first overseas trip to Italy, joining Kendall in Rome and being amazed at how grown up his youngest daughter had become. Then came Ireland, where he and Julie spent time reconnecting with their roots.
A graduate of Northeast High School in Philadelphia, Dan was a successful entrepreneur, founding his own after-market automotive business, which eventually became Personal Auto Options.
Dan’s family would tease him about his “Cassidy Goodbyes,” which often lasted 20 minutes as he made his way toward an exit, stopping at various points for multiple “last thoughts.” His final goodbye was different, though: fast and peaceful and quiet. But the memories of his love, kindness and humor will live on forever in the hearts and minds of his family and friends.Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday evening, June 13, 2017, after 6 pm at the Kirk & Nice Suburban Chapel, 333 County Line Rd., Feasterville, PA 19053 ( 215 - 354 - 0085 )
