Barton L. Chase, age 91, of Philadelphia, Pa., passed away on March 5, 2017. Barton was raised and educated in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He graduated from Boston University with a Master's in Music Ed., and taught in the Philadelphia Secondary public schools. He also attended the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Social Work, and retired from the Pennsylvania Dept. of Public Welfare - Mental Health Services. Barton was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Philadelphia, and was a member of the Canterbury Choir that augmented the Senoir Choir for special services and concerts. Barton was an honorably discharged U.S.Coast Guard veteran, serving during WW II. Barton is survived by a sister - in law, Faith Chase, nieces Stephanie Burgess and Gretchen Vaughn and nephew, Edward C. Chase, II. He is also survived by his extended famiilies , the McGee and Whitmore families and a host of Friends . Funeral services are private.
