Obituary for Chester T. Mikos

Chester T. Mikos, age 95, of Philadelphia, Pa, passed away on November 22, 2016 at Holy Redeemer Hospital. He is survived by his children, Michael ( Lin ), Carol Hrobak ( Matthew ), Deborah Scialanca ( Dennis ) and Chester, Jr. ( Dawn ), 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was born in Chicago , IL, and came to this area about 30 years ago. He resided in Philadelphia and raised his family. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the USS Detroit and was in Tokyo Bay for the signing of the peace treaty. Chester worked at Midvale Steel Company as a tool and die maker, and the Budd Company as a tool and die maker, quality control and quality assurance where he retired in 1986. He was a devout Catholic, a Third degree Knight of Council # 13209 and a Eucharistic Minister at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church. He also was a member of the VFW Post # 10209 and enjoyed all sports, especially football,hockey, basketball, Nascar racing, and fishing. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Thursday, December 1, 2016, 9:30 am at St. Ceclia Roman Catholic Church, 535 Rhawn St., Philadelphia,PA 19111, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am. Interment to follow in Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 7020 A.C. Skinner Parkway, Suite 100, Jacksonville, FL 32256
